Performing Arts

At Ribbon, we pride ourselves on the opportunities we offer our children in the arena of performing arts.

Ribbon Choir comprises of a strong group of enthusiastic young voices. They love to perform in a range of venues in the local community; Dementia Café (at the Glebe Centre) local churches and care homes – they always receive rave reviews!

For the past 12 years, Ribbon has been committed to producing an amazing end of the year show which includes children of all ages; orating, singing, dancing and acting. Shows in the past have included Joseph, James and the Giant Peach, Snow White, Mary Poppins and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. To commemorate the Ribbon’s tenth birthday, the children performed a specular show; ‘10 Years of Ribbon’ which was a mash up of all the previous shows.

To broaden experience and raise ambition, the children visited Sunderland Empire where they took part a range of drama workshops. The Gala Theatre in Durham and Newcastle Theatre Royal are also favourite venues to visit. This year at Ribbon, plans are already well underway for a spectacular end of year show; ‘Moana’ – watch this space for further details.
